Dune Part Three X Oscars

DUNE 3 x OSCARS 2027. IT'S WRITTEN. 💀 The Lisan al-Gaib didn't come for the throne. He came for the Oscar. The desert remembers what the Academy forgot.

The Dune 3 trailer dropped the day after the Oscars, unreal timing. With that iconic WAR CHANT running through the trailer I had to pair it with the epic moment of Paul Atreides walking up to his throne, facing the Fremen army ready to make THE COMEBACK and take home some Oscars with this incoming final Dune chapter. That's why I envisioned this massive Oscar statue as the central figure at the heart of the piece.

Challenges & Approach

One of my most challenging motion pieces to date I honestly didn't know it would turn out this epic. I normally record every work in timelapse but this one I just didn't take the time to. Still got the full After Effects and Photoshop files, but it's a real bummer not being able to share a timelapse with my community on this one.

This piece leans into more "real life" movement and atmosphere, a subtle zoom/dezoom on Paul, the throne, and the background, paired with a handheld-style camera shake to sell the weight of the moment, plus atmospheric wind particles everywhere. Could I push it further? For sure, but I don't have infinite time unfortunately. Hoping to one day officially dedicate my life to works like these.

Result

Love how it turned out. Thought I'd spend maybe 2 hours on it, ended up taking 2 days lol. Passion above all right? This saga means so much to me -> artistic direction, sound design, everything. The goal is to officially work in this universe one day, one way or another.

The community showed up for this one too, mostly on TikTok.
